1. Mr. Ramdas Padhye:
He is a well-known puppeteer who has performed many shows in India and abroad. He is famous for his iconic puppet ‘Ardhavatrao’ and ‘Bunny – the funny.’
Mr. Ramdas Padhye is India’s most famous ventriloquist (a person who can speak without moving their lips so that the voice seems to come from a puppet!). He learned this magical art from his father, Y.K. Padhye. If you have ever seen the famous “Lijjat Papad” bunny on old TV ads, that puppet was operated and voiced by him! He has a huge collection of over 2,000 puppets.
2. Late Kamini Kaushal:
She was a veteran actress from Hindi Cinema who ran ‘Gudia Ghar Production’ to create and design voiced puppets for Doordarshan shows in the late 1980s.
Kamini Kaushal was a legendary and beautiful Bollywood actress who acted in many classic black-and-white films. Because she loved children so much, she started “Gudia Ghar” (Doll House) to make fun, educational shows for kids on TV. She didn’t just design the puppets; she also wrote wonderful stories for them to act out, helping children learn while they laughed.
